New Changes for 2017

As mandated by and in conjunction with U.S. Soccer, AYSO is implementing several changes to the game in some divisions as well as changes to the division names and birth date cut off.  These changes are called the Player Development Initiatives (PDIs). Below is a brief list highlighting the changes:

The "U" has Moved - all divisions change where the "U" goes except the U5  division - now the "U" goes after the letter thereby including the age into that division - example: 10U now is for 10 and under and includes 9 & 10 year olds (instead the U10 meaning under 10). U5 will remain the same for Under 5 or 4 year olds.

Birthdate Cutoff Changed - AYSO has switched to calendar year for the birth date cut off instead of the previous July 31 cut off - the division your child is in will now be determined by how old they are at any point in 2018 - meaning if they will be turning 10 in 2018 then they will be in 10U - when registering your child, they will be placed in the correct division by their birth date

(Some Players will skip a division or may only play one year in a division - unfortunately this is a result in the first year of the changes but ALL AYSO Regions across the country will have players going through the same situations so everyone will be on the same level)

6U, 7U and 8U - Will now be 4 v 4 in all 3 divisions - there will be no throw ins

10U - Smaller fields, No goalkeeper punting, New Build Out Line, Offside has changed, No Heading

12U - No punting, No heading

No Heading - implemented in 2016, but this rule will continue in the 12U and below divisions.
